During this holiday season, I will be sharing 12 technology gifts for you to explore, use and integrate into your classroom or work.

Day 2 is Listenwise!


Listenwise is an award-winning listening skills platform. Listenwise will harness the power of listening to advance literacy and learning in all students. There is a collection of podcasts and public radio recordings that keeps teaching connected to the real world and builds student listening skills at the same time.

Students can listen and read at the same time! This is valuable for improving comprehension, re-listening, or citing evidence.

I highly recommend Listenwise to anyone who teaches ELA, Social Studies, Science, ELL and current events.

Poetry Month is Right Around the Corner Are you getting ready for Poetry Month in April? If so, I have some resources to share with you for creating concrete poems. Concrete poems are words written in a shape to convey a poem. They look like this: Recently I went on a mission to search for a site to use with a fellow colleague and her students. They wanted to make concrete poetry on their Chromebooks. There aren't many sites that allow the user to actually write words into any shape.  There is the Read, Write, Think interactive for Theme Poetry.  Here is what it looks like. I have bookmarks saved on Pinterest, Symbaloo, Listly, Delicious, Diigo, Etc. Guess what, sometimes I have a hard time finding what I bookmarked.  :) So I'm curious to know what you use and if you have a favorite.
