Four Useful Tricks to Using Your Chromebook More Efficiently

Image
Here are four useful tips for using a Chromebook more efficiently. #1 - Did you know that a Chromebook has a built in screen recorder? The Chromebook screen recorder works similarly to the screen recorder on an iphone. You can capture a snapshot or a video with or without sound. You can choose to capture your entire screen, a window, or select a part of your screen. Here is a how-to video .  *Note: I like to use the shortcut shift + control +  show windows keys to open the screen recorder on a Chromebook #2 Perhaps you are looking for a way to save all of your open tabs to be able to reopen them later. Here is a quick and efficient way to bookmark all of your tabs.  #3 Save any webpage as an icon to the shelf on your Chromebook. I use this for quick access to any site that I tend to have to open quickly several times a day. It saves me so much time! Follow these three steps. #4 Have you ever started to enter the name of a website into the omni box (the area where you type a URL) and th

Hello! How was your week? The weather in Wisconsin has been perfect this week and I'm loving getting outside each day to enjoy it. My goal has been to walk at least 2 miles each day and I've held to that almost every day this year since January 1, 2021!  It has helped me with stress management and energy levels.  Here is a little peak at a few things that have made my week. 1. A few teachers have asked me what type of wireless mouse I recommend for a Chromebook. I like the Logitech brand. One teacher shared with me that she purchased this mouse and this usb adapter and she loves it! 2.  I watched the new Cinderella movie over the weekend and I loved how Cinderella is portrayed as a girl boss who aspires to be a fashion designer. To top it off the cast members are amazing and music is so perfect and enjoyable! I've been listening to the playlist on Spotify all week. I highly recommend this modern remake of Cinderella.  3. I listened to a few podcasts this week.          Ju

Hello Friday! Links and Loves are my way of sharing interesting finds from my week. 1.  Here are a few podcasts that I enjoyed on my commute 365 Inclusive Learning Strategies to Help Every Child How to Help Struggling Readers in Grades 6 - 12 Smart Thinking Podcast - Look for the Leaders 2.  Have you seen this special video message? Being an empty nester once again, this message made me tear up a bit.  3.  Something I'm not sad about is this ! Are you ready? I'm a big fan! 4.  I was reminded of this fun tool when a colleague asked me how to create rainbow text. 5.  This site lets you see what the Internet was like 10 years ago today. I find this interesting and I think students might too! Tomorrow would be a memorable day to look at this site (9/11/21) 6.  I enjoyed trying to guess these AI generated movie images . I'm impressed with how well some of the images depicted the movie. Artificial Intelligence is a topic I'm always trying to learn more about. That's a wr

Graphic Design - Sharing a Few Great Tools and Resources

Image
This past summer I attended the ISTE21 Live (online) conference. One of the big themes this year was sessions on graphic design. This is due to the amount of online instruction that was being created last year for remote learning. I thought I would share a few of the resources and tools that I encountered during the conference.  These resources and tools are helpful when designing instructional materials, slide decks, anchor charts, or for teaching students about design principles for student created projects.  Color Palette Generators Color Contrast Checker Coolors Palette Generator Wordmark.it Canva.com Do you have any tools or resources for graphic design projects? Whew! It's been a while since I've written a post on here. Let's talk about one of my favorite pastimes, reading! My summer was a nice balance of work and finding time to enjoy my hobbies of reading, gardening, baseball, cooking and traveling. I enjoyed reading and listening to many books over the summer. Here are my top three picks to share with you. I'm also on Goodreads if you'd like to see other books I've read and connect with me there. What books did you read this summer or are you currently reading? I'd love to hear from you.
