Let's Start Drawing!

Image
Google Released a New Tool Called AutoDraw There is a new drawing tool from Google and it is really amazing!  Draw a sketch of something and AutoDraw will find possible images to turn your sketch into beautifully drawn images. AutoDraw uses artificial intelligence to recognize a drawing and then suggests professionally made images to replace your simple sketch. Like this! There are several tools to help make your drawing amazing such as the AutoDraw pencil, a regular pencil, a fill bucket, and a text tool.  Here is a short video explanation: AutoDraw works on Chromebooks, laptops, tablets and smart phones. To access AutoDraw just simply use the URL autodraw.com Here is a little information from the designers of AutoDraw: https://www.autodraw.com/artist Download or share your images with a link and use the side bar (3 lines) menu for additional option.   How might you use AutoDraw with your students or staff?...

Recursive Drawing

Our students love it when they can use their computers to explore art.  Recently I came across a neat site that allows you to make a recursive drawing. Watch this video to learn about recursive drawing: Click here to visit the site or click here to make a recursive drawing of your own.  We shared this with our students yesterday, and it was a huge hit.  It will benefit students to see the video or get a demonstration before trying to make a recursive drawing of their own. Drawz it

There is a wonderful new tool for drawing online called Drawz it.   (Drawz it is in beta, which means it is being tested for use.)   One of the best features of this tool is the sharing option to obtain an embed code for placing a drawing into a blog or wiki.  For example: Create your own drawings at http://www.drawzit.com ! AND Create your own drawings at http://www.drawzit.com ! To see all of the features of Drawz it and to find out more about sharing options, click here .  Tammy Worcester explains Drawz it in her Tech Tip of the Week.

Stained Glass Art Project

This is a tutorial on how to make a stained glass art design. Stained Glass Art Project Step 1 -Using the flat side of a small piece of chalk, make a frame around the outside of a piece of black paper.           Step 2 – Using the flat side of the chalk, draw a simple shape inside of the frame.   Then connect the shape to the frame in 3 to 4 places, again using the flat side of the chalk. Step 3 – Cut out everything that isn’t chalk.   Slightly bend the paper to make a small cut in order to get started with your scissors. (see step 5) Step 4 – Trace around all of the areas that you cut out on the second sheet of black paper.   Use paperclips if you don’t want the two pieces of paper to move.    Step 5 – Cut out the same areas as on the first sheet.   To make it easier, fold the paper to make a slit that you can put your scissors through to start cutting. Step 6 – Place two sheets of white paper b...

Desktop Backgrounds

Image
Each Friday we take 30 minutes to teach our students some computer skills.  Our students look forward to this all week.  Last week we embedded Vokis onto our eportfolios in Blogger.  It was a huge success. The biggest request from our students lately has been to change their desktop backgrounds.   So, this week our students will be creating a desktop background for their computer.  The students just need to decide which of the sites listed below they will be using for their backgrounds.   The important thing here is that we limit the choices the students have and make sure that the backgrounds are appropriate for school.  Each of these sites help to make an artistic colorful background that will look nice and also be appropriate.  Bomomo Flame Scribbler Sumo Paint Flower Power

Little Bird Tales

This digital storytelling site looks like a great one for students.  I love that students can use their own art work or imported pictures to create the story.  The other neat feature is that students can record their own voice to go with the story. Watch the video to learn more:
