Pinterest - Seriously, I use this for so many different interests in my life. Healthy recipes that I want to try and healthy recipes that I have tried . Storytelling apps , Sphero , and a few of my favorite tech people: here and here .  I can always find some great inspiration to keep me busy in the Pinterest App. Evernote - My days would not be as organized and put together without this app. It works seamlessly on all of my devices. Whether I'm saving content from the web or making my grocery list, this app is a life saver. The ability to record an audio note is awesome. And I love the Web Clipper Extension ! Audible - I have a 45 minute commute to and from work each day and I also travel a lot in the summer. Need I say more? In our district, our three high schools are going 1:1 with Chromebooks this year. Our Chromebooks will be arriving within the first three weeks of school. Here is some advice for making sure that lessons using the Chromebooks will be implemented successfully. First, test out the site , app, or tool that students will be using. Make sure to log onto the same device that students will be using with a student account. If you try out a site as a teacher on a desktop computer, there is a chance that what worked for you will not work for the students on their device with their log in. Here are some suggested sites that integrate well into lessons : Animoto  - create amazing videos Thinglink  - add links and videos to photos The Learnia  - Students can create videos on a white board Canva - a Chrome app for creating posters, flyers or brochures. Yeah!  I have found a new and improved way to get a photo from my iPad directly to my laptop. In the past, if I would take a photo on my iPad and then want that photo on my laptop, I would email the photo to myself.  But now there is an awesome new app called Bump .  With Bump you can simply take a photo from your iPad and literally bump the iPad with the spacebar on your computer, and the photo will appear on your computer.  You need to open the URL http://bu.mp and the photo will then be available for sharing or downloading.  This is much faster than emailing a photo to yourself.  This app also works with an iPhone or Android phone.   All of the screenshots below were "bumped" to my laptop with the Bump App. This app will be very convenient for our students when they want to get photos from the iPad onto their laptops.  I highly recommend using the Bump app. 

My son, Robert, often tells me he has nothing to do.  This is when I present him with a challenge.  Sometimes it's a chore or helping me, and sometimes it's a new game I have found on the Internet or for the iPad.  Recently there have been some really great finds! Here are three really challenging games for your students to give a try.  They are all logic type games approved by my son, Robert.   #1 Cube Mayhem - this reminds me of Bloxorz .   Get the cube from the start to the finish.  There are many different types of buttons to add the each layout.   Thank goodness for the walkthrough (AKA answer key) or Robert would have given up at level 14. #2 Blip - Another game where you have to move the box from start to finish, but many obstacles get in your way. Yesterday I tried out a new app called Three Ring on my iPad.   Three Ring is used to quickly and easily digitize student work and keep a portfolio of student work or classroom resources. Here is how it works.  First I signed up for an account at www.threering.com .  Once I had an account, then I set up my classes (math, reading, etc.) and entered my students' names.   Then I downloaded the app onto our ipad.  It is FREE! Once I had opened the app, I chose a subject    and student.   Then I clicked on Capture Student Work.   The iPad's camera opened and I took a picture of the student's work.  I also took some pictures of students working together to help keep a record of assigned partners. I could then view the work I had captured by going to the website on my browser.  From the website I could add more students to the work that was captured and I could add a note like the one you see in the above ca...

This is how I'm feeling today, because. . .                                          URL I have found the neatest app for an iPad.  It is called Splashtop Remote Desktop for Ipad .  The cost is currently $4.99. Two weeks ago I attended an advanced SMART Board session.  The presenter kept talking about an app called Splashtop that could be used with the iPad and a laptop.  She said that when you add in the SMART Board and you have some amazing technology.  I finally had a chance to check out this app and I am amazed.
