Can you believe that May is just around the corner? There are just six weeks of school left! I have a son who will be graduating from high school. I'm starting to feel excited for him and his future .  Last weekend I presented a webinar called "10 Presentation Tools that Allow for Creativity and Choice". Here is the slide presentation for you to view. To showcase each of the presentation tools, I used the same pictures and script to create the same presentation with each tool.  Wevideo just announced this new feature . Oh, the podcasting possibilities! How many of these do you use to manage your Gmail account? Number 4 is really hard for me.  Check out these fake news resources .  I took the fake news quiz and got a score of 6 out of 6. Yay me! Here's what I've been reading lately. It's a real, on-the-edge-of-my-seat thriller! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------...

Gmail is Getting Better with These Three Updates

Image
Gmail is a huge part of our professional and personal lives. Here are some new updates for Gmail that will make this service even better! #1 Write Now, Send Later with Schedule send in Gmail You can now (or will be able to soon) schedule your emails in Gmail to be sent at a later date and time.  This feature will be available on Android, iOS and Gmail on the web. #2 Smart Compose is getting smarter! The smart compose  feature, which is powered by machine learning, will offer suggestions as you type. Soon,  it will personalize suggestions for you, so if you prefer saying “Ahoy," or “Ello, mate” in your greetings, Smart Compose will suggest just that. It can also suggest a subject line based on the email you’ve written, so if you are notorious for not including a subject line, now you have no excuses.  #3 Customizable Swipe Actions for the Gmail IOS App. To help you get things done even more quickly, with the newest update you will be abl...

Gmail Setting for Unread Emails to Appear First

Image
Recently I showed how to update to the newest views in Gmail.  While sharing this, I was asked how to make the unread emails appear at the top of my emails.  I wasn't able to remember, since I had changed this a long time ago.   So, as promised, I have found how to make this change.  Follow the steps below. Step 1 Click on the settings wheel at the very top of your email.  Not the lower wheel.   Step 2 Step 3 Step 4   Don't forget to click on SAVE CHANGES!! That's it!  Now your unread emails will be at the top of your list.  My favorite part of my day is when my email says, " Woohoo! You've read all the messages in your inbox."

Gmail for Your Students

Image
Have you used Gmail with your students yet?  Each of your students has a Gmail account already set up.  Their usernames are their graduation year (18, 19, 20) followed by their last name and first initial.  The password is ripon followed by their graduation year.   For example:  18smithr and ripon2018  Parents had to give permission to allow their child to use email.  You should already have the forms that show if they have permission (Pam gave you these earlier in the year). We had 3 students whose parents hadn't signed the permission form and when I explained that we would be using email as a way to send and return assignments and activities, all 3 of the parents agreed to give their child permission.  (If you would like to use the letter I sent home explaining this to parents, just let me know and I can send it to you.)   We use Gmail in a lot of different ways.  One way that we have been using Gmail is to send our students...
