Happy New Year Everyone!

Do you have any goals for the year 2019? Have you heard of #OneWord365? This movement has been around for a while now and the idea is to choose just one word to focus on every day all year long. This one word sums up who you want to be or how you want to live. My #OneWord365 is Creativity!

Recently I’ve take up a few creative projects. I have been learning brush lettering, which is a type of calligraphy.
I also have been learning how to use Instagram to its full potential as a way to share and connect with other techy people like this teacher does.
I’m also determined to learn more about and become better at the Cricut machine.

January is known for getting organized. Here are 10 ways to declutter your digital life in 10 minutes. I would like to tackle one of these each day for the first 10 days in January. Wish me luck. 🍀

Do you use Flippity.net? There is an update. You can now create 5 different types of Flippitys without a Google account or a Google spreadsheet. Random Name Picker, Fun With Words, Word Scramble, Hangman and Memory Game.

A media specialist recently asked me what an interesting display of artificial intelligence might look like in the media center. I immediately thought of Story Speaker! Students could create a virtual assistant to recommend a list of possible books to read based on a user’s response to questions such as do you want to read fiction? Do you want to read a mystery?  Do you want to read a short book?  Story Speaker can be used on a computer or hooked up to speak through a Google Home personal assistance speaker. I think this would be a fantastic way to incorporate artificial intelligence in a positive and helpful way.

Enjoy your first weekend in January. Perhaps you will find a way to make the best of the winter season by trying something new or creative.
Drawn by me, Deb Norton, using my Rocket book to make a digital version.
