Links and Loves - An Idea for Homeroom, A Student Suggestion, A Shortcut and a Gmail Update

September is winding down and I'm feeling energized and raring to go! Bring on October!

Are you looking for an activity for your homeroom? I have a suggestion for you. It comes from a podcast that I listened to this week called “The Smart Thinking Podcast”.  The episode I listened to was Episode 58: Homecoming 2 — Who made you- you?   You might be SURPRISED to hear the connection to the Oshkosh Area School District in this episode!

A student recommended that I check out (and purchase for our Innovation Lab)  one of these. What fun we could have programing this Mebo and learning a bit about what it takes to maneuver a robotic arm.  Students have the best ideas!

Many of us like to use Ctrl - or Ctrl + to zoom in or out on a web page. Did you know that when you click Ctrl 0 (the number zero) it will put your screen back to normal? Or in other words, back to 100%. Here are some keyboard shortcuts all computer users should know.

Smart Compose is now available for G Suite users (that’s us at OASD). When you are typing an email, you will see suggestions that can intelligently autocomplete your emails. Yes, you can turn this feature off in your settings. Personally, I am liking this new feature!  I’ll take all the help I can get composing emails and it saves me time.

Go Guardian Tip

If you have used a session with a scene in which you push out tabs to students or limit the tabs students can have open, you may have noticed that after the session, students lose the tabs they had opened prior to the session.  This is frustrating for students. I have created a how-to document showing how students can save their tabs as a bookmark so that they can restore tabs when a scene is over. Even if you aren't using Go Guardian, this is such a useful tip for any teacher or student to know.
