Our new unit in Lead 21 is all about Colonial America.  To supplement our reading series, I am going to use a great website called Liberty Kids.  It offers several activities for students.


Students can create a Colonial Newspaper.




Students can watch short videos on how things were different during Colonial Days.  It is called "Then and Now".




Students can explore and learn about colonial people, items and places in the Liberty Archive called "Who, What, and Where".  






With all of these great activities, my students will be busy this week!

Poetry Month is Right Around the Corner Are you getting ready for Poetry Month in April? If so, I have some resources to share with you for creating concrete poems. Concrete poems are words written in a shape to convey a poem. They look like this: Recently I went on a mission to search for a site to use with a fellow colleague and her students. They wanted to make concrete poetry on their Chromebooks. There aren't many sites that allow the user to actually write words into any shape.  There is the Read, Write, Think interactive for Theme Poetry.  Here is what it looks like. I have bookmarks saved on Pinterest, Symbaloo, Listly, Delicious, Diigo, Etc. Guess what, sometimes I have a hard time finding what I bookmarked.  :) So I'm curious to know what you use and if you have a favorite.
